remember.

met this woman (Erin) in anthro last wed and she was telling me how she was part of the Leaders Today organization. SOOO cool! wow. the stuff that she's said and done.

one thing that she had said really touched me. -> in Haiti, when someone leaves, dies or just goes away, they say, (in direct translation) 'remember.' in comparison, here, we say stuff like 'i miss u'.

however, their meaning of 'remember' is along the lines of 'i (will) remember the times (good/bad) that we have shared'. that just puts more ... feeling? meaning? ... into those few words. as opposed to the stuff that we say here.

just something to think on. i mean, the words that come out of our mouths, are they just for the sake of hearing ourselves talk? or do we really mean what we say? we're constantly surrounded by superficiality to the point that it's so easy to just slip right into the crowd and do the same. especially as Christians, shouldn't we step up to the plate and NOT follow the crowd? set the example? be true in what we say? and yet it can be so hard to do.

food for thought... do U mean what u say? or is it just the usual 'surface' talk?

on a side note, they're gonna start up a club here on campus. gonna see what i can do to help, even if it's not much. =)

shortest class ever.

prof: 'hi class, welcome to soc312. here's your syllabus. alright, well, i wasn't able to connect my laptop to the overhead, hmmm...that's never happened before actually. well, i'm debating whether to continue with a lecture despite not having the slides...'

majority of class: 'NO!'

prof: 'very well, i'll see you all next week.'

time it took for all of that ... 10 mins.

now if only they were ALL like that =T

first day of 3rd year.

came d/t to drop off the googly eyes to yuk ling cuz i'd forgotten to give him all of them yesterday. he said he was gonna leave at 12 so i was like..ok i'll come by around that time just so u don't have to wait. but i ended up getting there around 11:30 cuz it was a quick bus ride, then just napped til 12. THEN, we ended up wandering around looking for a place to each lunch and randomly met ppl on campus. them more chilln w/ ppl.

my record stands at at least 28 ppl i've randomly met today. not including the ones that i'd 'planned' to meet.

OH! random moment of the day... i met this girl who was in my pol208 class at the bookstore today. totally didn't see her until i almost ran her over w/ my big bag *oops! then we looked at each other and was like 'do i know u?' haha..it was one of those moments. then she was like 'yeah, i heard ur voice and turn and only saw ur back. but i didn't think it was u cuz ur hair's much longer.' but then when me and karen went to her section of the books, yeah, we recognized each other. AND she's also taking pol340 too. hahaha.. what a coinkidink =D

that was the social aspect of my day. academically...it was kinda boring. didn't do too much, though both classes ended early. almost passed out during int'l law already though. =T *sigh* that's why i hate warm rooms w/ dark lighting.

but yeah, then popped over to jon's birthday dinner. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY JON!) =D

then went home and watched more csi. oh man, i'm so hooked on that show. =T

and THAt was my day.

had 2 mini miracles from God today.

first off, we (utccf) had a freezie stand today on campus. too bad it'd rained..and rained..and rained. =( thus we had to move all the stuff inside to outside to inside again. =T BUT prayers are listened by God, even the ghetto ones!, cuz later on the sun came out and it was nice and sunny =).

sun = more comfort, more pleasure in serving and just more ppl wandering outside in general.

second miracle is.....I'VE GOT A JOB!!!! YIPPEEE!!! i'm a GAP girl. haha, granted that it's not the super, high-tech job everybody always wants, but it's something new. and 'sides, i'll be making some money. not to mention the sweet DISCOUNTS i'll be getting =D (yeah, the next few paychecks will probably be headed straight back into the cash drawers again =T) *shrug, c'est la vie.

but, yeah, that's TWO miracles in one day. GO GOD!!!

you are blessed.

got this off an email a long time ago...

If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness...
You are more blessed
than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation...
You are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a place of worship
without fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death...
You are more blessed
than 3 billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof overhead
and a place to sleep...
You are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet
and spare change in a dish somewhere...
You are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you hold up your head
with a smile on your face and are truly thankful...
You are blessed
because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand,
hug them or even touch them on the shoulder...
You are blessed
because you can offer a healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing
in that someone was thinking of you and,
furthermore, you are more blessed
than over 2 billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

DON'T ever take life for granted. peace. <><

new word of the day

bruncher: a meal that encompasses breakfast, lunch and dinner
