went EVERYwhere.

had a good day on monday just going to lots and lots of places..though it was uber walking. =) went around to fort york (the tourist-y one), the EX, then the lantern festival.

haha, good thing dan didn't bring a camera, cuz conveniently, at fort york was this pirate-y festival taking place, which fits in nicely with all the games on puzzle pirates that i've been playing. haha.. it's so fun, yet so kiddish. =D

anyhoo, highlight of the EX is...seeing the human cannonball. who really does that? what kind of job IS that? what if you over/under shoot? haha, oh and some young, young solider semi-macking on this girl after her friend asked her to take a pic w/ him. hehe, kids these days.

the lantern festival was so pretty. i just love the 80 m long dragon and the elephants, which were both made purely out of ceramic plates, bowls, cups, and spoons! OH, and we can't forget the lantern pandas! they were so round and cute!

all 'n all, a good day spent. =)

reality.

stole this story from dan's blog. but regardless, it is a story that'll hit home to everyone, whether you're in the army-ing world or not.

...it is a story about compassion and humanity...

just last week, i was in the field, and i was talking a warrant, a man who had been there done that, and years ago when he was in kosovo with the army, he was standing at the back of a one room school listening in on a math class, and every now and then he'd take over the class and the little kids would love it and giggle a bit when he taught them math.

but the whole time, there was one boy at the back of the class who had a sad sad face. why was he sad? because he didn't have a pencil, and he was sad because he wanted to learn, but he was the only one who couldn't take notes because he didn't have a pencil,.... and when the warrant did something as simple as take his own pencil out of his shirt and give it to the boy, the boy instantly smiled, ...the simplest little things... like for this boy... a pencil made him so happy... and the rest of the class saw that gesture and they were happy too

compare that to some of the people you know, and how much they take for granted, even how much they don't care for education and school...
