what's w/ all this caution about not leaving ur stove on??

despite being taught that it's super dangerous to leave a stove on unattended, there really isn't as much of a risk as how our parents have always made it to be. it was zhao's birthday today..and we were gonna give her a cake, but the chinese bakery didn't sell any of the cakes that she liked. so i didn't bother getting one. so when the time came for her to get out of her room, carny decided to make a make-shift cake w/ a bao (chinese bread) and a egg tart. hahah..

we were also gonna stick a candle onto of the egg tart, but we couldn't find any candles. so we looked about and eventually settled on a tealight candle. THEN, we went on another hunt to find a match, lighter, anything that we could use to light the tealight with. no such luck.

so we decided to see if we could burn a piece of paper or tissue over the stove and then light it from that. haha..we tried, tissue, a piece of paper, a toothpick..but to no avail. it lit the object into a mini flame, but it wasn't strong enough to light up the wick as well. despite all that fanning we did. we failed. =(

BUT! despite having the burning smell lingering for a bit, nothing was burnt. all is safe and sound. well, other than the stuff we were trying to light up. and even then it wasn't a satisfactory burn.

lesson of the day: if u want to light anything up, use a lighter, and if u don't have one then use a match. if u don't have either. go buy it. it'll save u a LOT of hassle =P

had a VERY lazy day today.

haha..on the agenda today was to go and study. so i went over to gerstein for a bit and got out my stuff...and that was it. i got too tired, so i decided to take a lil nap...which lasted for 2 hours! and even then i was still struggling to wake up.

during my 'nap', i had the most weirdest dreams. and it all took place at gerstien. in particular, where i was sleeping...

dream #1
i dreamt that i was calling ppl up, but i couldn't quite grasp what they were saying, so i kept on calling back. this went on for a bit. then that dream stopped.

dream #2
i dreamt that there were a bunch of ppl headed towards me..and there were no more seats left. so cuz i was hogging 2 seats, i moved over to 1. i tried to go back to sleep, but they were making so much noise that i gave up and decided to try to study again.

they were so loud that i overheard that they were talkn about the girl that was walking outside (they were looking out a window). and so i got curious and decided to look. haha..i remember them talkn about how she was pretty 'racked'. and then they started commenting on the guy talkn to her. and saying stuff like, 'there's a typical guy for u.' or something like it.. and then *poof* a guy appeared, when before there was none (well that i could see) =T

so yeah, that was definitely a weird dream.

anyways, yeah, so after those two dreams, i decided that it was REALLY time to wake up =T so i did and went to a table to study..but then called up carny to see if she wanted to go study together. so i went over to her place. had some lunch then decided to go study. went into her room to use the comp and she decided to take a nap.

so, whatever, i continued to use the computer. finished w/ it. then decided to get started on some more of my lsat. got through like half a page of notes then decided to take another nap. it didn't help that i was studying face down on my tummy. i have NO idea how long this one lasted..probably an hour or so?

but yeah, so all in all, i had a pretty restful, though unproductive day. =D
